Y’know, I’m really getting kinda sick of the DayZ community on the official forums.
Pretty much every criticism for the game, they play off as calling you a little girl and telling you to grow some balls.
As of this morning, 1.7.1 dropped, and from what I’ve heard, I think I’m putting DayZ back on the shelf for a little while. At the moment, hoards are insta-spawning (a verified bug by Rocket), the aggro is out of control (a zed can supposedly see you from 50m away while you’re proned, also confirmed as a bug), and my biggest complaint is that they’ve removed weapons entirely for new spawns.
Now, the bugs I can deal with, but when they throw you into a game entirely defenseless, I don’t like it. Call me a pussy, call me what you will. And maybe it’s my military mindset where my 9mm pistol is never more than three feet away from my desk in my house. But I refuse to put myself in a situation where I am entirely defenseless against an army that I’m supposed to fight.
Pulling this shit isn’t funny. The only way a new spawner can even get a weapon is to basically roll the dice and hope he doesn’t get spotted while crawling through town. And even then, he’s gotta roll the dice and hope he comes across a weapon, since those spawns have been debuffed a tad bit. (Mainly just the Winchester, but I’ve heard that others are shit-spawning too.) And sure, this might help with the cooperation of new players, but what the hell are they going to do? Teaming up just makes you a more noticeable force, so that’s pretty much suicide.
Also, the removal of side and global chat is a bit of a peeve, because I always enjoyed just shooting the shit with people halfway across the map. And since direct wasn’t even working for me in the 1.7.0 release, I’m almost afraid I’ll have no way to tell people not to shoot me.
Either way, like I said, until this mess gets sorted, I think DayZ is going to be shelved. I could roll back to 1.7.0, but then how long is it until all the servers migrate to 1.7.1?
Either way, I’ve been meaning to get back to D&D. Maybe this’ll be my break.
